Ayurveda is one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems. Here's how to bring its simplest, most practical rituals into your daily routine.
Ayurveda — literally 'the science of life' — has been practised in India for over 5,000 years. At its heart, it's about balance: aligning your daily habits with natural rhythms.
You don't need to overhaul your life to benefit from Ayurvedic wisdom. Start with these simple morning rituals:
1. Drink copper-charged water. Fill your copper bottle before bed and drink the water on waking. This ritual, called ushapan, is believed to support digestion and gently wake the body.
2. Scrape your tongue. Using a copper tongue cleaner, gently sweep from back to front 5-7 times. It takes ten seconds and leaves your mouth feeling noticeably fresher.
3. Eat your largest meal at midday. Ayurveda teaches that digestion is strongest when the sun is highest.
4. Wind down with routine. Going to bed and waking at consistent times is one of the most underrated wellness practices there is.
Small, consistent rituals compound into real change. Start with one, and build from there.
